EDUCATION

General

The education level of the North Okanagan population has increased substantially over the past four years. The last Canadian census taken in 2001 indicates that there are higher-than-average skills in technical and diploma educational experiences. However, the Okanagan College became a university college in 1993 offering university credit courses, conferring degrees and transfer credits to other Canadian post secondary institutions. The first graduating classes of Okanagan University College in 1997 and the migration of highly educated professionals to the area have resulted in a higher university-educated workforce than in previous years.

There are many educational opportunities in the North Okanagan or just south of the Region in the Central Okanagan.
